We are looking for dedicated Functional Safety professionals to join our team. This remote role is based in Romania and is primarily aimed at freelance professionals looking to work on dynamic projects on a flexible basis. It involves regular visits to client sites to ensure the highest level of service and support.

We are currently expanding and require an experienced Functional Safety Engineer to support our clients' projects.
Role
In this role you will act as the functional safety expert on a wide range of projects. You will be responsible for supporting system engineers and taking ownership of functional safety deliverables.
Responsibilities
Gain a thorough understanding of automotive specific system functionality to identify potential safety implications.
Develop and maintain detailed safety documentation including fault tree analysis, hazard analysis, functional and technical safety requirements and validation plans to ensure functional and technical compliance with safety requirements and compliance with ISO26262.
Conduct thorough functional safety reviews of system designs and operational procedures to verify compliance with safety regulations and identify areas for improvement.
Work closely with customers to provide expert functional safety support for their projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and safety standards.
Develop and deliver training programmes for staff and customers to increase their understanding of functional safety practices and compliance with industry best practice.
Effectively prioritise and execute daily tasks and new assignments in a dynamic work environment, adapting to evolving project requirements with a focus on safety deliverables.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in automotive, electrical or equivalent engineering.
Proven experience in systems or safety engineering.
Ability to perform or lead FMEA, FTA, FMEDA and HARA activities.
Knowledge of ADAS functions is an advantage.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and customer service skills.
Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Advanced level of English (both oral and written). German is an advantage.
Desirable skills
Experience of Polarion or similar ALM tools.
Experience of JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint.
Knowledge and background in standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 26262, ASPICE.
